my new pc

Hey all, basically my pc is worse for wear and for about 3 months now its been shutting down randomly, restarting whenever it likes and its general lost all momentumn, its a shambles!

So the time to by a new pc has come, however im not a very technical guy when it comes to computer talk such as "mother board" "CPU" etc etc, the only thing i understand is memory.....so i need some help.

Plz could people suggest what PC i should get or what i should look out for in a good gaming and generaly fast pc.

There are some nice $10,000 pc I would suggest lol

#1 set price range
#2 what will you use it most for ie. game media work
#3 pc or laptop
#4 any specific brand?
#5 want the lastest or something about a year ago.

Well... within an $800 maximum range... well I'd say you wouldn't be very satisfied unless you don't mind games at lower settings and possibly forced to use a smaller monitor I guess depending on the graphic card, but I can see a fairly good computer out of that actually. My best guess is that if my friend were to build it he can probably have err let's see...

The other stuff I'm not sure but that's just a guess because a while back like months ago he said he can build a computer at around $700-800 that can run Supreme Commander at max graphics maybe cheaper I think he said $600 something but y'know those above are just estimates to what he could probably have in it just give him an email and he'll ask you the usual, what's your budget, what are you going to use it for etc etc and don't worry about sounding all profession he practiced Geek to Idiot and I'm not saying you're an idiot but he talked to a lot of them who really are... stupid and sounded stupid etc etc enough rambling

I also did a calculation and £400 is $600 Canadian soo it'll be very tough to get even a mainstream rig

they all let you customize it and make it fit to your needs and they give you help if you dont understand something

I would consider buying a 'big box store' computer and adding a better video card. Well in fact my wife bought one at Best buy for $800 and it plays DoD just fine (and she did not update the video card).

How about our sponsor *cough* Cyberpower PC. They have a lot of nice stuff for 700-800 dollars. Anything in that price range from them will for sure make any steam game run at very playable frame rates.

since you are not looking to build your own, then you can just check out the ones they sell in stores. i have a pretty good gateway from circuit city for about $600 to $650. and it has pretty good specs on it, though the cpu is a bit outdated

most of the ones in the store are cheap and can play most games already. the integrated graphic cards can play dod source, but are a bit slow, so i suggest buying a cheap one from newegg.com like the geforce 9600 cards. it goes around $100 now, i think even cheaper now. and look for at least a dual core cpu, or if you want a quad core.

also, about your current computer. since it randomly shuts down and restarting, it should be some sort of spyware, or most likely a virus. the same exact thing happened to me, but some times when it shuts down, it wont let me go into my desktop. i took it to the shop, and they said it was a virus. so scan your computer or take it to the shop. even better, do both XD

But I have made some changes with care not to pass your 800$ budget and you can make it a good monster also.Note(this 2 options do not include LCD or nay monitor) But you can buy any monitor in any place anyway since it has nothing to do with your computer performance. just make sure you get a decent one and has a DVI cable. here are the spects of the pc I would buy if i was you.

Again what matters is the computer it self . Monitors are many of any flavor you want.(note) The one i would buy has a Phenon Quad Core CPU. For the Intel fan boy. Its a True Quad Core. Not 2 Dual Cores compress together sharing one sigle FSB . Do your Research to understand the True Quad core tech. and I use both Intel and AMD. Iam only in the side of the truth.

I forgot one thing. Before you go and buy another computer. Lets see whats wrong with yours and deice if you do need a new one.
post the specs of your current computer. It should tell you by right clicking on my computer and looking at the general tab. It will show you the CPU +Ram and OS you are using. for the video, Click on Hardware+Device manager+Display adapter. It will tell you what video card you are using.
Once we know what type of PC you have, we will see if you do need a new one or not. But in any case you will want to fix this one to have it as a back up or for some of your family.

Visit cnet.com and download AVG free edition(a Free antivirus) and also get Ad-aware free edition . run Ad-aware one a week at least to have your PC smooth, and free of trash. I tell you without this your computer will crawl and be slow.
