Om nom nom.

Anyway going to have these on for a week, then lower braces and a Jaw expansion device on the roof of my mouth for about 6 months. Then, well, upper braces (and possibly removed teeth).

If all goes well that's it. If not, Jaw Surgery. Wish me luck over the next 1-2 years.

Good luck mate! Bracers don't actually hurt, but your mouth still be sore for a few days, and sensitive when you try to eat. Eat soft foods at first and progressively get to harder foods. And with braces, there's pretty much no candy in a nutshell. I'm fine with this because I never ate candy in the first place, but some might be a bit down. Don't disregard anything your ortho says not to eat. Some people say, oh I eat it and I was fine. Well, they may have had to wear their braces for a longer time then estimated, but everyone is different.

Oh yes, the spacers, braces, and jaw extension. I remember that period of my life vividly. Do what VP and your Orthodontist said and you should be fine. Also, when you get you jaw extension device, remember to make sure there is no food stuck in the small space between the device and your mouth.

Good luck on the braces. ;)

I just got braces about four months ago, too...
Now, the braces are no problem. The spacers hurt like hell, though.

Well good luck on everything :) and im probably getting braces soon so ill see how that goes..

My teeth get sore just thinking about spacers. I had to have them put in 3 times since they kept falling out right before they put on the braces and the gap would close.

I haven't had braces for quite a long time, but I remember that I managed to break off a few brackets with my hubristic attitude towards my eating habits. If the orthodontist says no to a food, don't be an idiot like me and eat it.

Also, make sure to get a lot of wax from the orthodontist. I remember having to stick wax on my braces quite often and whenever I ran out I was in a lot of unnecessary pain.

Oh yeah
And they said it would be harder for me to play the trombone with braces...
...I think they lied.

Well when I had braces they did suck but at the same time I knew they were doing good I just left it. Looking back on them now I would have done alot of things different. Meaning I wouldn't have eaten certain foods.
