Vista Problem... help please!

So, I've run myself into one hell of an issue. I'm running Windows Vista Ultimate, and have had no problems until today. I turn on my machine and it cannot connect to my network properly. My first move is then to restart the computer. This doesn't fix the problem.

In fact, it has created a disaster. Now, most critical windows services (like the network service) simply aren't starting up at boot-up anymore, and attempts to manually start those services, fail. I cannot even get to the Back Up/System Restore menu because THAT service won't start. I have no idea what caused this, and no idea how to fix it.... any advice?

I'm living off of safe-mode here, because in safe-mode with networking, I'm able to get online and operate the machine (limited features of course) normally.
 
Seems we're in a similar boat here spetz... Does vista say "unknown network"? That's what it tells me. Doesnt pull a proper ip/dhcp from my modem. I am wondering if this is a vista thing, but it does the same on my xp too.... Before mine pooped, Vista Premuim was giving me strange "bios" errors on startup, they were endless, opening error boxes. So I updated my Bios... You have any Motherboard based programs that run on startup, ie for overclocking/temp monitoring?
 
Sounds like you may have some type of infection.

I am not trying to spam here, but I run a free tech support forum and there are some very knowledgeable techs there that can help figure your issue out.

Well, I simply bit the bullet and re-installed Windows. This has thankfully resolved the problem. Since most of my files and games were on a seperate partition, it didn't hurt too badly.
