So I have a 22" Dell monitor. I've had it since 2010 roughly. It started acting up early today.
The monitor is going black, but staying in the "on" mode, showing the blue "on" light. I can cycle the monitor to the other ports not in use, and get it to go to the "sleep" yellow light. Also, i'm able to get about 1 second of video which is pristine when I cycle the power on and off, and also it comes on when I boot the computer at each stage of the process, then stays off in the "on" setting when it loads the desktop.
I've ruled out that it has anything to do with the actual computer. I plugged in my PS3 with an HDMI and tested it and got the same results, as well as plugging my PC into my TV and it works fine.
It seems that there may be some issue with a breaker or fuse not staying powered on, but it doesn't make sense that it would stay in the powered on setting if there were a power issue, and I don't believe the menu functionality would stop when the screen goes black if it were a light or projector issue. And finally I don't understand how everything would work perfectly at all, even for 1 second, when the power is cycled.
So... any ideas?
