Survived that rocket with 2 health. Anyways to my question, How much is surfing actually used and what is it used for?

I was minding my own business, killing a heavy, and along came a soldier. He shot a rocket at me, I somehow crouch jumped at the right time to rocket jump at the heavy and kill him with my shotgun.

No, he was surfing, but I wouldn't say that was a surf kill. A surf kill would be more like if you flew onto the roof and punched that solly midair or right when you landed, not if you had landed him and chased him around the roof.

But nice replay, anyways. Besides using minis.

Uh wouldn't call it a surf kill. You just airstrafed towards the Heavy.

But even then, you just walked forward and blasted him with the shotgun.

Surfing is just falling onto a slope while constantly airstrafing into it so you move across it. Source is weird like that.

Surfing's not all that useful or practical. Airstrafing is insanely useful though.
