Networking (link 2 Home Networks)

I have just recently received my PC out here in Okinawa, Japan. I have a friend who lives in the same Tower as myself (an in-door apartment, on base) who lives down the hall from me and we are looking into linking up our home networks.

The overall goal: Central drive to share movies, music, ect. Be able to play via lan. Retain separate internet connections.

I took some Cisco in high school (1 semester) and I joined the Marine Corps instead of sticking with it, so I'm a little out of the groove on things. Any tips/advice would be greatly appreciated.

*looking for speed.

**aprox 150ft distance between us.

so you have an idea of what I'm dealing with:

Network A
PC --> Router (NetgearN600) --> Modem --> Interweb
               ^        ^
       Samsung TV      PS3

Network B: similar

I dunno if that last bit helps at all.

The only way to not run 150 feet of cable would be to get wireless NICs for the PCs and have them connect wirelessly to the N600. The same inside NAT IP addresses will be given out regardless of if your TVs/PS3s are plugged into ethernet or wirelessly.

Is it as simple as running a cable from my router to his? If so my questions would be geared to router configuration on both ends.

We both have dual-nic's, so is that another possible avenue to look into?
