Windows 8

I've recently bought a laptop that runs on Windows 8. Is it a good OS? OR should I throw my laptop out the window? I couldn't play CoH since the game is old and the OS is new but good ol' compatibility mode worked out in my favor. However, All of my "Canyourunit" scans don't work because the OS is new :c So, Good or No? Do you have it? Do you like it? Any problems I should look out for? o_o Please and thanks.

Windows 8 is a good OS. It's a newest one and it's normal to not support the old game and hardware.

If you spend a little bit more time to learn how to use it, you will enjoy it. It's clean and awesome OS.

Many people complain about not having the start menu, we don't need it as all apps on the desktop itself. you just need to type a few word, then the apps that match those keywords will be filtered and display on the desktop for you.

It supports touch and live update tile and I think it's a cool feature that I like the most, it always display the latest information in real time.

Rebuilt my old laptop (on it now). Dumped in some more RAM and upgraded to 64bit Windows 8.

MUCH better than Vista (gag). Boots almost instantly. Built in security software (not as good as paid but ranks pretty well). Games run fine (can't play many on it as it is still an old laptop).

Overall a pleasant experience.

Word of caution: it took me like a month to get settled with that new interface. I like 7 better as it is what I'm used.

In all honesty, I think the Metro UI is stupid on anything that doesn't have a touch screen and I hate having features, like the start menu, taken away from me. I also think it looks ugly.

Windows 7 for life.

Well, I thought I said this but you guys brought it up, I have a touch screen! I think that makes the whole experience better. Being able to open the...side menu?..By swiping my finger is awesome so I've had no problems without a start menu.

Quoted for agreement from an IT worker perspective. The interface is made for tablets, or smart phones, not for ease of navigation. They took away your standard START bar and made it tiled as you would see on a windows phone. People who don't utilize touchscreen features (laptop users) aren't getting the full intended use out of the OS.

Windows 7 for life.

Windows 8 is alot smoother than Windows 7, because the background services are not as demanding. The only reason you took it off is because of the Metro UI which can be disabled by a menu program like Start8?

I run Battlefield 3 @ 50-60 FPS on Win8. (64 bit)
I run Battlefield 3 @ 40-50 FPS on Win7. (64 bit)
