Changes to 2fort!

We're just testing the waters with QuickPlay, server rankings, server load and gameplay balance. No one said this is permanent change. ;)

Here's hoping this is a short test, sorry but TF2 is not really set-up properly for 32 players. I enjoy eGO servers because they are 24 player servers.

Also how does this work with "Dedicated Supporters"? I'm not one yet but do they have a say as to how leadership changes servers that are funded with their dollars?

I was going off what Seph stated in the initial post. He said when more people try to join the server when it's full at 24 it kicks over to a 32 slot setup and quickplay is disabled because of it.

From what I've been told, Goz is right. Every player slot that you add above 24 gives you a penalty in the quickplay ranking system.

Here's a suggestion: Since it seems that the division is divided (like it always seems to be when big changes are made), if it turns out that the 32 slot server is successful, then perhaps we could change one of the other servers to a 24 slot 2fort server (e.g. it seems to me that Valve Maps and CP kind of overlap in the types of maps they have, so CP Rotation could be made into a second 2fort server).

But that's just me, and I happen to be a 2fort fanatic. I'm sure most people won't see the point in having 2 2fort servers and they will probably be right

inb4 someone tells me to Dropbox my idea

From what I was told by Spidey, quickplay gets completely disabled once the server gets upped to 32 slots. (The actual question I asked him was "When the server is upped to 32 slots do we get penalised with quickplay or is it just disabled completely)

Played on it tonight for a good time, and while my ping was a hair higher (~44 as opposed to ~40) I didn't notice any lag until my modem decided to try hacking up a lung.

I'd like to know how you did this? is it just sv_visiblemaxplayers? I thought quickplay was affected by the maxplayers parameter...

I'm sooooo confused.. (I used to host a server so it's interesting to me)

Oh no. Please no. 32-player TF2 is WAY too spammy. Please reconsider, Leadership. One of the many reasons I love our servers is because they are only 24-player, which is much more balanced than 32-player.

i.e he is trying to say it makes it harder for him to spawncamp

Well if we do lose Quickplay completely it would be nice to have faster respawn times. Perhaps 2 or 4 seconds would be nice? I don't want instant because I like to be able to see who killed me?

i dont know if this has to do with it, but i have been getting laged out on servers

Actually, no. While this is surprising coming from me, I actually dislike more players and especially fast respawn regardless of my love of spawn room maintenance. It just makes the game much harder and less enjoyable when there are too many people to get past in order to do anything.

Maybe turn foundry or dbowl on 32, instead of 2fort which isnt my favourite map.

Here's what spidEY told me:

When a server has 32 slots, it gets the maximum Quickplay penalty, which is so large it's almost like Quickplay is disabled, but Quickplay is still on and functioning, just with a very large penalty. If course, when the server goes back down to 24 players, Quickplay works like it always has?

At first I was like how does that work then I was like

I DON'T CARE IT MUST BE MAGIC
