For those who have some free time and are interested in a game like Day of Defeat, doesn't require a lot of GBs to download or a strong rig for play: I suggest Forgotten Hope 2. Essentially, it is a free mod for Battlefield 2(BF2): so the steam version of BF2 works (though it costs 20$).
Similar to Red Orchestra, or Battlefield 2/3, you'll see a lot of tanks, vehicles, planes, and infantry classes.
Currently, there are two theaters of wars: North Afrika and Western Europe(late war), and I do believe maps and weaponry for an eastern front are being made.
I usually play single player to blow off some steam, so i can only give review on that. The gameplay is very immersive where the AI is well coded, and can give intense urban battles:
-Tank battles in the desert are great, from either short range hectic duels to long range sniping (PanzerIV F2 is pretty awesome for this)
-Hearing a Stuka or a P47 flying overhead, or a bomb whistling near you can seriously rustle some jimmies :blush:
-Being a sniper in a church tower, and shooting enemies while your position is being bombarded to hell.
-Being a Tiger driver/gunner: enemy tank-shots bounce off as you take them out. All the while, a Nebelwerfer battery is launching a barrage from a close distance behind you.
-While not easy, plane duels: Shooting down a noisy Stuka or a FW190 :thumbup:
-Missing a Bazooka or a PanzerShreck shot on an enemy tank and feeling its wrath.
