Geforce driver problem

Recently my computer has been telling me a new driver is out for my card. The last time I tried to update my driver it gave me nothing but problems, somehow I managed to get it to work and allow me to play my games. I don't know why I decided to update but I did and I'm having problems again. :facewall:

I've got a Geforce GT 220 on Windows XP and no idea on the driver version before but I was updating to the 310.90 Driver.

The problem is that after I install, my computer boots as if there's no driver detected but it's very clearly there in my hardware list. It's like I'm in safe mode or something, lowest color and resolution settings. I'm not sure what to do at this point. If anyone can help I'd be extremely grateful. Thank you!

It's always a good idea to create a restore point before updating drivers, that way if something goes wrong you have a restore point to fall back on.

Did you do a clean install or just installed over the existing driver .
How do I uninstall my NVIDIA display drivers?

1) Go into your Control Panel
2) Double-click the Add/Remove Programs icon
3) Select the NVIDIA Windows Display Drivers from the list of programs.
4) Click Change/Remove or Add/Remove button.
5) Confirm with Windows that you wish to continue with the uninstall

Note: A prompt appears asking whether you want to delete all of the saved
nView profiles.
If you click Yes, all of the nView software and all of your saved
profiles will be deleted.
If you click No, the nView software is removed, but the profile files
are saved in the Windows\nView directory on your hard disk. If you take advantage of the nView profiles, you may wish to keep your custom nView profiles.

Once the driver files have uninstalled, Windows will request that you restart your computer to complete the uninstallation.
Two choices when updating Nvidai drivers (Geforce)
1) Manually find drivers for my NVIDIA products. http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us
2) Let Nvidia auto detect http://www.geforce.com/drivers

Note: their driver install has a check box to do a "clean" install" ( it works fairly well so use it)

Here's What you came here for-
With all that said & with what you are reporting. You should go to one of the 2 Nvidia driver links above.
Download the latest driver
Uninstall what ever driver you have installed ATM
Reboot the PC & then install the Driver you just downloaded (be sure to click the Clean install box)
