Game crashes

I just upgraded my computer. Spec-

4 gig ram
Intel core 2 duo 3.0
SATA Raid 500gig HD
XFX Geforce 8600 GT
ASUS P5N-E SLI LGA 775 NVIDIA nForce 650i SLI ATX Intel Motherboard

Okay now for my problem. Since it is 4gigs of Ram I needed to go with a 64 bit OS. So I read the forums and found that people don't really like vista but if you had to get it, get Home Premium. So thats what I did.

Now I can run Steam just fine. It will run by its self all day, but when I start DoD:S it runs for about 20 mins and then the whole computer freezes. I am wondering if it might be the SATA HD, but I am not sure. I am looking into getting XP Professional 64bit and just taking back Vista. But I want to hear from you guys first.

64-bit Windows is by far the most unstable and most bugged compared to 32-bit, 4GB of RAM is also slightly un-needed unless you plan to run many and I mean MANY programs or like 4 programs of Maya Autodesk which requires 1GB of RAM just to be turned on
 
I do alot of programing, but yeah I know 4gigs is alot. But it was on sale for the price of just 2 gigs. So I went for it.
 
I have Vista on my laptop and XP on my regular workstation. My PC did fine but when I played on the Vista Laptop it would crash. (COD4) I upgraded to Vista SP 2 and this really corrected alot of the issues.

Just a thought
 
I think you mean Vista SP1. I looked for SP2 and there is just talk about it, no real downloads.

But you were right, I was able to play for a full hour last night when I installed SP1. It didn't crash, the wife wanted to play DoD. She didn't have any problems either.

Oops, sorry SP1.. So many Windows SP's I lose track :) I'm glad you are working
 
well y'know Vista 32-bit does work with 4GB just it'd recognize only 3.5GB of it as RAM lmao, but yea whatev lmfao :O you do programming!!! hah my friend and I are looking for future possible... people to aid us in our company's conquest on the now crashing market lmfao
