Does anyone have a way to make a script that will open chat and already type something for you, for example, a command that enables you to open chat to

Say: @[message]

or

Say (TEAM): @[message]

with the push of, say, the 'X' key.

It would really help if this was possible.

Welp admining using binds = nono

but ill tell you how to bind

open console
Type one of the two
bind key "say blahlgblagbagalbga"
bind key "say_team blahblabahlbahlbaba"

Thats how you bind (Replace key with what key you want ex: x, y, z, a, b, q

Yes, but I want to be able to type whatever I want, not just to say something. I only want it to open and have '@' typed for me.

You could always use a key macro program to input keystrokes ''press T; Press SHIFT + 2'' when you press the X key... I can do it with my logitech software that came with my gaming mouse.

I'm not sure about free macro programs though, You would want one that you can create a profile to only run when you play TF2, otherwise when typing and you hit x, it would insert ''t@'' into whatever you are typing.

I think you need a G-series product for this software to actually run, but you can always try it..

Free macro program that I use is Autohotkey. If you're good with it, you can even make the hotkeys tf2 specific.

I had hotkeys and messages setup for chat a long time ago for another game. I can't remember which program I used but any hotkey program like what hEY posted should do!

Just use this:
bind <key> "say @<Insert rule-breaker name here>, please follow eGO rules. Thank you!"

Inputting @ is too much effort? That's remarkably absurd. Next, we'll have people claiming writing the words in a warning is too much effort so there should just be single keystrokes to fill in boilerplate warnings and...oh...wait...

Like NMSniper said, using binds to admin is not how it's done. There ought not to be anything like what PolishSnipa just described in handling an admin situation. I'm not quite sure what to make of this except that I hope this isn't something admins frequently contemplate.

What Goz and Cael said. As an admin, it's part of your job to be careful of how and what you type in chat- kind of ironic, coming from me, but there it is :/

k.

I wasn't going to use this only for admin chat, I was just using it as an example. Just something I could put under my belt to possibly use later.

NOO HONORBOUND YOU'RE A TERRIBLE PERSON!!! No, but did you get this figured out yet? If not, I wrote a crappy little script in AutoHotKey that does what you want, and I can explain it to you so you can figure out how to modify for your own purposes. Generally, so you know what this program can do, this takes over your chosen hotkeys and it repurposes their function to the windows system.

My script sends a "y" keypress, waits 100 millisecs, then sends a "@" keypress when you hit "x". It does the same thing with team chat when you hit "Alt"+"x". Both of these only work in TF2. Now, I also have some always-running scripts that I use on my computer and are in like an auto-exec file basically. If I wanted to, I could just shove this tiny script into my overall one, and it would always work and I wouldn't have to worry about turning it on and off.

Just PM me if you want that stuff. And if not, I'll cry because I wasted 5 minutes of my time. :(

I probably would want these, I just don't feel like doing anything right now.
