nvidia, cause my last ati card i had completely destroyed itself playing call of duty united offensive.... yeah... old game but still it was a decent gfx card.

Back in the 9800pro (2002) days i was an ati fanboy. After that card every ATI card i bought was out performed by nvdia. I know as of last year the image quality seemed better on my ATI rigs, but NVIDIA had the fps. I currently have a 7800gtx and i <3 it. Nvidia has been pretty solid for me.

Right now I have an nVidia 8600GT. My laptop has a Mobility Radeon 9000. Now, idunno if it's just a fluke or if that MR9000 is an indicator of other ATI cards, but I still prefer my nVidia. It's really comparing apples to oranges with this comparison though. The 9000 was an integrated chip on my laptop, so it probably wouldn't have been good with any card. It just happened to overheat a lot.

I'd prefer to get nVidia but I can't say I'm a fan boy. I generally like both of their products and currently I'm definitely liking the ATI stuff but unfortunately I hate Catalyst drivers... I think they molest Windows. And Windows molests me enough already.... I don't need to multiply it >.>

If I had the money and could redo my purchase of my video card... I sure as hell buy an ATI card. But at the moment I am pleased with my current card.


Edit + PS:... I think you nVidia fanboys have been uncomfortably fondled with an ATI Radeon 9250.

Me and everyone @ www.hardwareanalysis.com used to debate this regularly. Vulgar terms such as nVidiots and ATI's abbreviations being: Always Trash Inventor.... or A Technology Inferior...

But I think you just wait and see what happens. I mean.. I love my AMD products. But with video cards.... I can see myself going both ways.

Nvida have the fastest cards but the lack of a really good CP is a weak point. ATI and CCC is way better than Nvidia but their cards are so slow and with Pro software they work really awkward. I choosed Nvidia because I want power and realiability when I'm working.

I have an ATI Radeon x1900, got it for a fair price at a computer show as well.

Great power, easy drivers, and I've never had a problem with them.

So my vote goes to ATI. It's a tough call though, Nvidia seems to be dominating the market.

I will comment though, that many of the comments in this thread seem to be made by uneducated Fanboys. If you want to love or hate, know the products first.

with nvidia's drivers quickly going in the trash, this question is becoming harder and harder to answer. but i'm an nvidia fanboi so i'll probably be sticking with them.
