Dumb Stuff The Average Computer User Does!
I will say first, that I would have tried to snap a picture of this set up, as it was priceless, but the customer was HOVERING over me, watching my every move.
So, I get to this clients house because they were complaining about the internet not working. So, off to the "Office" I go and begin to examine the set up...
1. Phone line coming from the wall, plugged into DSL Filter
2. DSL filter plugged into 56k modem IN port on desktop
3. DSL filter plugged into 56k modem OUT port on desktop
4. Phone line plugged into DSL filter, other end plugged into DSL modem provided by AT&T
5. Network cable plugged into DSL modem, into computer.
So to recap
Wall --> 56k Modem --> DSL Modem --> Computer
I can't make this stuff up, I was AMAZED.
