Headset Advice

So I have now had 3 Steelseries Siberia V2s die on me due to the chord shorting out, so I think I'm done with them. I'm looking at the Corsair 2000 and 1500, as well as the logitech g930.

I have a couple questions. For one, is the 2000 worth it or would the 1500 be a better deal? Also, what is the deal with virtual 7.1 surround sound? Is it any good?

Feel free to suggest other headsets.

I have a Corsair Vengeance 1500. Have had them about 18 months. Have held up well, fit comfortably over my ears during long sessions, and sound good. After having headsets that have hurt after awhile, I take the extra effort to make sure they feel good.

I haven't tested the 7.1 virtual vs Dolby vs Bypass much. I just checked and I have them in 7.1 mode right now.

The only problem I have had with them seem to happen with other USB headsets. Like volume changes when plugging in some other USB device, like a phone to charge. Or finding that stereo in a game is reversed, but that is fixed by unplugging and replugging in the headset. Neither of these happen very often though.

I buy a $10 microcenter replacement plan. that warrenties the headsets for two years. If they break, I can just walk into the story and get a replacement, rather than waiting for three weeks. Plus, I could just get a store credit for the siberias, and buy another kind of headset.
 
I love Logitechs, so if you want to spend the money I would go for the G930. Out of those three you listed the Corsair 1500 would probably be the best value.... not too expensive and are well built and well performing for the price.

What ever you do do not get razer carcharias though hahah
 
Currently headsets go about this way between Logitech and Corsair quality wise

Logitech g35 vs Corsair 1500 ( the 930 and v2000 are essentially wireless versions of same quality and are pricier.)

bass - Logitech is slightly better
gaming - Logitech is slightly better due to bass
video -corsair is slightly better
music - corsair slightly wins overall
comfort -there about the same it comes down more to preference
durability - there both extremely quality i can personally attest to g35 being one of the best ones i had in this department.
mic - There very similar Logitech historically wins here though and when i tested these in stores i didn't get to personally test this but from other reviews they are very similar quality.

Overall... The minor differences in each category is somewhat noticeable but not that much. The Corsair 1500/ 2000 is right now about 15 dollars cheaper then its Logitech equivalent g35/930. So if price / music and video quality maters more then slight quality in games enough you should definitely go with it. If the quality in games / bass means more to you enough then the g35 /930 .

I have the corsair 1500 having just recently replacing the turtle beach z6a with them. I really like the 1500.
 
My siberia has been fine for the 8 months I've had it lol ( Well I broke the volume control when I dropped it )
 
I have a g930 and it is amazing. The 7.1 is terrific and it has a solid mic as well.
 
don't get a "gaming headset" Buy a nice pair of studio headphones. Superlux makes some nice ones for a budget. For $30 you can get superlux hd681s which have better reviews than most really high end headsets as far as sound quality goes. Then you can just grab a zalman clip on mic from amazon for like $8
