Spray Issue

I have a jpg I want to use as a spray in TF2 and when I go to load it just keeps processing and never loads. I even left it alone for 20 minutes and it never finished loading. It's only 68kb so it's not that big. I love the picture too, it's a picture of Gordon taking off Master Chief's head with a crowbar. Any help?

Start VTFEdit and import the JPG you want to use. If I remember right, the default import settings will work perfectly for a spray. Once you've imported, save the file to...

<STEAM INSTALL DIR>\SteamApps\<ACCOUNT NAME>\team fortress 2\tf\materials\VGUI\logos

If the folders don't exist, create them. (I had to create materials, VGUI, AND logos)

After you save the file, go to Tools > Create VMT File and then click Create and save this file in the same place as the VTF.



Start TF2 and if you did this right, you should be able to set this as your spray from the menu.



Now, the spray dimensions have to be a power of 2- ie. 64, 128, 256 and cannot be larger than 256x256 and 128KB.

you can also copy your VGUI folder from cs:source or any other steam game and put it in your tf2 materials folder that way you can still use your sprays you've been using in other games
