Most thermal paste nowadays is non-conductive anyway, so even THAT shouldn't be a big issue if you apply it yourself.

Also, you can buy a nifty bracelet to keep yourself grounded.
 
Thanks for all the info I might try to build one when I leave the field I am signal so I know there is some in my unit that could help
