Hey my pc is not working

My pc has been stuck on a update for 2 hours it say update three of four and it also says that i should not turn it off. Well there is an eventing a missing can I shut it off because two hours is crazy who knows how long it is going to take

If you shut it down you will most likely damage the file you are updating. Go ahead if you want to wipe your hard drive of the program and reinstall it. Is it a windows update or something like java or flash player?

If you damaged a critical windows file needed to start the computer, you may need to recover the computer from a Windows (whatever version you have on that computer) installation disc or a previous restore point.
