What I Do: USAF Historian for the 914th Airlift Wing. Much of my job regards the documentation of unit history, as well as maintaining 914th historical archives. I am a high school senior and I am applying to West Point and other military academies. After college I want to become an Army Ranger.

I come from a big military family. My older brother was a Captain in the Special Forces. His career stopped early due to taking multiple nails in his throat, arms and legs from a bomb that had nail bags attached to it. He currently works an office job for DOD. I applied my senior year and was denied due to heart issues. Only male in 3 generations not to join the US military. Father was in Vietnam battle of Huey. Grandfather was WWII/Korean/Vietnam NCO. Other grandfather was a M10 Tank destroyer commander battle of the bulge.

Good on you Tech!! Apply yourself and become better than your peers every chance you can. Be that guy everyone comes to for help.

Tumblin: Those are called "Dirty Bombs". Horrible devices man. But thats a lot of history! What's keeping you from joining?

Denied due to heart issues. They refused to take me on as a liability.

I mostly did licensing of soldiers to drive the Paladins, HEMTTS, PLS, etc., etc., dispatching out and returning vehicles, and logging any errors, ordering parts and assigning mechanics to repair vehicles once the parts came in. Here's a picture of one of the Paladins firing:

We have a refueling wing of the Air Guard right up the street from me at General Mitchell. Very cool thing to see. I'm totally jealous now, because I'd much rather be doing that than playing games.
