My ventrilo doesn't work!

Hi guys. Since my computer crashed about half a year ago, I can't install anything with Windows Installer... I know it's weird, isn't it? But sadly, it's true. And I'm always ready to reinstall my entire computer but I can't because I don't have the Windows XP-cds... If I can format my computer and reinstall Windows XP, windows installer will work again. That's the only problem, so I just wanted you to know I'm active all the time and I would be in Ventrilo if I could so just hang on, I will get there! ;D

I'm not sure but I think it has to do with some weird Vista-theme for the computer a guy asked me to download. More correctly, I asked him if he knew a Vista-theme I could download and he looked one up. I most certainly think it contained a virus...

Did you lose the reformat cd's, or did your computer not come with them? Some brands, such as HP, sometimes make a partition with the recovery disc data, and have a program you can run that allows you to burn the data onto discs.

About the virus, what antivirus software do you have? It might be a good idea to install just the non-active virus checking part of a free virus program, such as Avira Antivir, or AVG, just to run the scan to check for any viruses.

It did come with the computer, but as clumsy as I am they're gone and I can't find them. xD However I have an extern extra disc to move some stuff with.

And about the antivirussoftware, I do have a great program; AVG as you mentioned. But I guess it didn't have time enough to find the virus or something. :S Anyway, my stepfather works with computerprogramming and he actually could get my computer working again but as said with a lot of bugs like Windows Installer not working...
