I think this would be a good way to recognize people for attempting to make custom maps. It would definitely give us a selection of maps for a custom server and it would be a great way for the map designers to get their ideas out there and played. We could give a 1-2 month design period and within that period, people can design their own map and at the end we put them up on a server (if possible) and play test the maps to see which one wins (by popular vote), and the winner would be put into our custom map server if we get one. Just an idea. What do you guys think?

As much as I don't like most of the custom maps I've seen so far (as opposed to the standard maps, anyway) I really think an eGO design contest might turn out a few that even picky ol' me would have fun on. I might even take up the SDK myself and give it a shot, I used to do maps for Red Faction and half-finished one for CS:S.

Also, eGO exclusive maps that can't be found on any other server might bring in some crowds.

Sounds great. Although I'm not a map creator I'll be happy to host any of the files on my business site. I have plenty of space and bandwidth; just let me know and I'll hook you up with a private ftp login and password.
