UHD vs Ultra Widescreen

So I'm looking at getting a new monitor fairly soon and I saw that Seiki has this sexy 39 inch 4k UHD TV for only $500, and it has good reviews on Newegg. You can check this thing out here.

4k gaming would be awesome, but I know my graphics card wouldn't be able to support it unless I'm playing simple Source games or Minecraft, which would mean I'd need a couple powerful cards to get somewhat smooth framerates in Battlefield 3 and 4, though this monitor does support 1920 x 1080 and 2560 x 1440 resolutions due to the 16:9 aspect ratio.

Though this brings me to another question: LG makes a very sweet 29" 2560 x 1080 ultra widescreen monitor for the same price. Perks of this over the 4k? My graphics card can run any game at that resolution, it's aspect ratio makes it uber friendly for gaming due to the widescreen form factor, it has next to NO bezels so I can hook up two or three monitors side by side, and it's about the same price!

So what are your thoughts? Is this $500 39" 4K television good for some 4k gaming? Or is it best to stick with a reliable manufacture and snag an ultra widescreen monitor?

As long as the 4k upscaler doesn't mess with response times/refresh times, and as long as it doesn't break down in 3 months... Sounds like a pretty sweet deal. TBH I've had to repair my own LG monitor after it died on me, Samsung > LG for Korean mfcs. That being said it's been doing ok since I fixed it.

120hz and 6.5ms lagg times, not bad. 6.5 is slow compared to a gaming monitor, but it's not a huge difference.

If you've got enough vRAM and a half decent card you might be able to push 4k ... its like a quad monitor setup but in one screen.

I only have 2GB of video memory, but directX says I have 4GB which isn't true lol.

Another thing is on this monitor if you're using HDMI at 4k you can only do 30Hz refresh rate. If you use display port then you get 60Hz, 1920 x 1080 does 120hz, and 1280 x 720 does 240Hz. The response time is a little slow, my gaming monitor has a 2ms response time vs that 6.5 on the 4k, but having a 4k monitor playing CSGO or Battlefield 4 at a 4k resolution would be sick.

I might just stick with the ultra widescreen monitor though. True 120Hz refresh rate, 2560 x 1080 resolution, etc.
