Omg Windows 8!!

So I have a laptop.. a Sony Vaio with windows 8.. I keep getting the message "your PC has encountered a problem and needs to shut down. We'll restart for you" then it restarts with the automatic repair but then the same error starts again.. I'm basically stuck in a loop.. I have very important documents that need to be retrieved from this computer however I cannot start in safe mode.. I have researched the internetz for assistance however none of that mashing F8, no wait, shift F8.. no wait.. right shift F8.. I cannot boot to safe mode at all because I can't get to desktop to do so.. Please, I'm begging for some assistance in being able to recover my files.

for info getting into safe mode is trying to get safe mode during start up not waiting until you see the desktop

Try launching your windows 8 into advanced recovery mode and run a refresh (this will essentially reinstall windows without removing your files)

Chances are you will need to use a USB recovery media to resolve your issue. Did your Laptop come with a windows disk?

Are you able to to access the troubleshooter at all? or is it loading straight into automatic repair?

I cannot launch windows 8 into advanced recovery mode. I don't have a window's 8 CD.. They gave me 5 backup CDs however nothing happens when I try to load them. I went out and bought a SATA to USB adapter, now my PC with Windows 7 does not see that external Hard drive. When I view the disk drive from Disk Management, it says that the disk's data is not allocated. I am now attempting a partition recovery right now to see if I can recover the data.. We'll see how that works out..

What's the motherboard on your laptop?

You might be pressing the wrong key to launch into safe mode.
