Great little joke google made. But they were serious. Released real apps for this to work and are selling the cardboard kits on some web stores. Looks fun to mess around with and if you have an android phone, I am sure you can get a coder savvy friend to code up a stream from a desktop video to your phone and what not. Looks funny. It is funny. I got a laugh out of it.

Its real. Plenty of articles around say that google legitimately said they are producing this as a "Make it yourself Virtual reality head set."

Lol, I made one from the instructions the day they gave it out at google i/o. It works beautifully.
