Since when is "butts" offensive?

So, I've been playing on the 2Fort server with this for over a month now with no problems. Today, some mod I'd never seen before told me to change my name, and proceeded to kick (and I think ban me for talking back to him.)

Now, I'm pretty sure the word "butts" isn't against the rules, and if it is, why did no other admins say anything during all of the games I've been playing?

I'm not sure but it could've been me who kicked you, I remember you playing on the server. A couple of times I've been asking a council or an eGO if I should warn a person for having an offensive name and as I said I'm not sure but I almost think that I did that and got the order to warn you and then kick if no respond.

Different admins have different opinions on what's offensive. I personally think we should have clearer rules on what's offensive or not. But that's just me?

Anyway, this thread should be in the contest ban-section.

A list with offensive words should be brought up , voted by the concil , it would definatly close the door to all kinds of confusion.

I'm not really contesting the ban, I just wanted to see if that was the general consensus among the admins here or if it was just one guy on a puritanical crusade against butts.

I also don't want to contest the ban because I like my game name and don't want to change it, and I'm pretty sure getting unbanned wouldn't magically stop MaShadow from kicking me again.

No, butt is not an offensive word and no one should be kicked for it. Plain and simple. If we allow 'ass', 'damn', 'hell' (which we do)... then certainly any word an average five year old uses is allowed.

Well, first I was kicked for the name, then I was kicked/banned for fighting the admins :<

Actually when I asked him what was wrong with the name it wasn't "It's against the rules" that he said to me, it was "I don't like it."

If you were kicked for your name then I appologize, you probably talked back to him though right? We have been through this before and whoever kicked you was wrong for it, I dont see any problem with your name and you can keep it, from now on if you have a problem with an admin dont argue with them cause thats just going to make it worse. Contact an advisor or council member and we can take it from there. Please send me a pm with your steam id and ill make sure you are unbanned ok?

Also include the time/day and server name please

It is not possible to cover all offensive names, so there always people who will find a loop hole. I think a good rule of thumb is don't use a name that you cannot explain the meanings to your kids/parents/grand parents.

I was there when you were banned (for 30 mins, according to the console message), and I think it was probably the arguing with an admin more than anything else. I didn't think the name was offensive, but that's because I'd be okay with my 5-year old saying "GhostBUTTsters" over and over.

This guy didn't really fight against anyone. His name is not offensive at all.

I do not remember who kicked him for it, but I was there.

If he's got a ban on him, I highly suggest removing it, and I think we owe this guy a big apology.

i was under the impression that if u find somthing offensive or do not like it . have them changed.
as for ppl saying ass. i dont let them do it. but for names with butt or ass or arse. i wouldnt ban u over it..

Yeah guys just try and use a little judgement, I mean if it was like mr assbuster or assman or something I could understand but not ghostbuttsters. He has been personally appologized to by myself and we are unbanning him, just remember to not fight an admin cause thats what gets most folks in trouble.
