It's almost here folks, the event we've been creating ungodly amounts of fake Steam profiles for and bugging our friends about in order to get as many money bags of loot as possible joined up in the Payday 2 Steam group. There will be SEVEN game updates over the event, each bringing us goodies for absolutely free!

So let's get ready to sing the traditional heister jingle as we start counting down the gifts!

Because I have not seen a Payday 2 subforum in a couple months since the forum reorg. All of the Payday 2 stuff is now kind of shotgunned throughout the General Gaming stuff.
 
Haven't started on the decks yet (stupid game crashed on Firestarter day 2), but I absolutely love some of the skill tree tweaks. Control Freak is a good skill, but always felt way too high for such a situational ability (same with Cam Loop really, but they didn't touch that). Moving it down to replace Inside Man was a dang good move. And Carbon Blades has a reason to be taken now! When Aced it allows you to use the OVE-9000 as a secondary weapon! XD

Still trying to figure out how exactly the new ECM Feedback skill works when Aced. Your jammers getting recharged every 4 minutes is interesting, but does that mean you can feedback them once again? Still have to test stuff...

OOoooo, the 'active' ECMs now have a blue highlight around them, as well as the 'sensor mode' trip mines!

On the downside, a lot of people are finding pretty nasty bugs since day 2's patch. Things like "the game crashes when the 'GO Bank' vault's timelock hits '00:00'", and "you can't drill the vault in Firestarter after turning the power off"... Hopefully they fix those little problems soon.

Day 3 and there's two things to read up on.

First off, that "Secret Stuff" 1,500,000 member reward? Apparently it's bringing John Wick (yes the same as the movie that's coming out) becoming a playable character, along with a few additional tidbits like going all guns akimbo and 3 new pairs of sunglasses as masks...

Second up is data on the quickly upcoming Old Hoxton breakout heist. Basically The Dentist got Hox a retrial and we're going "supreme-ultra-mega-loud" and blasting through a wall of the courtroom to get him out. Oh, and info on the 5th skill tree (The Fugitive) and perk deck (The Crook). And a look at his default mask. And his toothbrush shiv.

Day 4 here, just over halfway through now! As mentioned in yesterday's blurb, John Wick is being brought in as a playable character with a new perk deck of his own. Leveling said deck will unlock the Akimbo ability, which unfortunately sounds like it can only be used with the new included Chimano Compact pistol... And that the Mastermind skills don't appear to work with it [yet], so using it with things like Pistol Messiah is a waste...

Also, I'm almost 100% certain that one of the pictures on the update page is from the upcoming Old Hoxton breakout heist since it doesn't look like any other area in the game I've ever seen.

Day 5 and we get a new intro ingame starring Chains instead of the 2-3 minute scene from the John Wick movie we had yesterday, the last 2 clown masks (anyone else getting a gigantic vibe of "Killer Klowns from Outer Space" from these four masks...?), some bug fixes, and something that's not technically for us Payday players.

With needle finally out of my arm (sorry influenza, my body isn't your playground once again this year!), I can finally read the news outside of the depressing stuff happening up north of me!

Day 6, only 3 patch left, and they've given us the promised Art Gallery 1 day heist from Framing Frame! Oh, and a little tweak where you can play 3 heists during the day or night too, them being Watchdogs days 1 and 2 (they count as two heists?) and Big Oil day 1.

Ah, and the man behind Hoxhud (Olipro) and one of the guys from Last Bullet Gaming (Tatsuo) show why Overkill is so mod-friendly:

Heck, they even have set up a way for us to manage our mods easily!

Mod instructions
1. Create a root folder for your mod inside [payday2 root]assetsmod_overrides

2. Place the override files inside your mod's folder.

Example of a texture and a soundbank being overridden:

Today's patch gives us... NOTHING!

Well, at least right now it gives us nothing. Overkill has brought on an indie studio started by a former employee to help them get us even more content down the road, starting with a new client by the name of "The Butcher" who gives us a heist called "The Bomb" where we steal a bomb of all things (please god don't let the freaking driver crash...).

And on the day before we break Old Hoxton out of prison, Gage and Lion Game Lion studios show us that we're not just heisters, we're predators. Specifically the king of the jungle (or is it savannah? I don't think lions live in the jungle do they?).

Yes it's time for #freehoxton to actually mean something as today we break our buddy out of prison in the loudest way possible short of a full-on airstrike. While they also announced they were delaying the new GENSec enemy and the FBI files, they have good reason as they wanted to make this heist the most epic ever.

Old Jim Hoxton is back, and he's bringing destruction with him.
