Uh, Chains, is that a minigun you're holding...?

Well, this one is sure to make some people angry... The Overkill Hype Train is up on Steam now for one of two prices:

$5 for a Minigun and mods, an RPG (hello Mr. Dozer, how are you tod-*KABOOSH*), an Overkill mask of some type, and an escape van skin.

$20 nets you 4 limited edition masks based on the original 4 PAYDAY: The Heist masks, and god knows what else as the rest is secret.

The takeaway? Preordering one of these packs nets you Hype Fuel, the metric they're using this time instead of just how many people join the Payday 2 Steam group. Each level has a Hype Fuel requirement to get to, just like the Crimefest getup.

200,000 Gallons - The Side Jobs feature
300,000 - SWAT Van turret enemy
500,000 - The Butcher Mod Pack
700,000 - Heist Updates
900,000 - Car Shop Heist
1,000,000 - Golden Grin Casino preview
1,200,000 - Bonnie Character Pack
1,400,000 - 10 heisters are flown to LA
1.600,000 - Hoxton's Revenge heist
2,000,000 - PAYDAYCON LA with a $250,000 tournament prize pool

Oof, couple days out (okay, 4) and we're already at the second stop with this train.

Yes Virginia, that means we're taking on what's in essence a tank in the SWAT van turret enemy. And there's still over a month before the hype train derails and ends up plowing into the side of that wall we're headed towards.

24 days left and the runaway train's just about ready to blaze past stop #3, giving us the Butcher Mod Pack. Curious to see what it is (another mod setup with Last Bullet?), and then we're off to the Heist Updates stop at 700,000 gallons!

Double feature!

Today not only did the train nearly run down a bunch of pedestrians waiting for the express to downtown as it barreled through Stop 5 (and nearly crashed head on into Stop 6 at the same time), but we get a second method of getting Hype Fuel! By preordering either of the Hotline Miami 2 versions, you gain 5/10 gallons (standard and deluxe)! Oh, and by preordering HM2 you also get your hands on the Jacket character pack for Payday 2 for free, so it's win/win/win.

Secondly is the release today of the Butcher Mod pack which was unlocked a few days ago! It costs $5, but includes a small army of new mods for the AK and CAR families of guns, 4 new masks, 4 new patterns, and 4 new materials. The thing? Buying this also adds 3 gallons of fuel to the cause, and you get to look like this:

Oof, forgot about this... Well, Valve games as well as (all?) Dennation games count towards Hype Fuel, so even more ways to power this train through the last couple stops.

"Couple?" you say? Yes, "couple". In the time when I was spaced out for a week or so, the train nearly ran over Bonnie and flung 10 heisters to L.A. for whatever reason (poor saps...), and is currently staring down what'll likely be the final stop obtained (Hoxton's Revenge) at 1,410,000 gallons strong. But Spring Break is in just 9 days, so the question is will Hox get his vengeance?

And evidently everyone's buying Hype Fuel now as in one freaking day we went from 1,400,000 gallons to 1,720,000 gallons, bringing us the heist most people wanted:

Metal Payday 2: Hoxton's Revenge

As of, well yesterday as I check the clock, the two OVERKILL packs are live in the game, that means you can RPG that skulldozer that's decided to pickpocket those 3 shields that are in front of him and watch the carnage, or lay waste to an entire legion with the minigun (with freakishly satisfying "BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRT" firing noise) to clear a path out from the Rats meth house.

The Completely OVERKILL pack masks are actually pretty dang nice, with the exception being Hoxton/Houston's mask. The purple just doesn't pop from his eyes very much.

The "mask" for the $5 OVERKILL pack isn't really a mask, it's like an almost North Korea-ish military hat (it's quite large if you've ever seen the soup bowl hats they have over there) with an Overkill bomb emblem on the front.

And the escape van skin is quite nice:

And of course there's the achievements, 90% of them being suitably insane. The two actually focused on tonight was "I have no idea what I'm doing" where you stealth Shadow Raid (any difficulty) with the minigun and RPG as your weapons (neither gets a silencer obviously), and "Oh, that's how you do it" where the only task is firing the minigun uninterrupted for 25 seconds. But how about "Bring your cop to work day" where you have 4 converted cops at one time? Or "Reputation Beyond Reproach", which has you doing plan 'c' on day 2 of Election Day (you know, the one where you screw up the truck tagging in day 1?) on Death Wish, with nobody getting cloaked, downed, or cuffed?

And as of sometime this morning (it was sitting at a bit under 1000 needed when I went to bed last night, stupid daylight savings time...) the Hype Train has crashed through the wall of some Los Angeles event center and flung money from the loot stash at a bunch of Payday 2 tournament players... Yes the final destination has been breached and the cops left miles away in the dust, yet there's still 4 more days until the Spring Break festivities start up.

Next patch (whenever it arrives sometime this week) will add an additional 10% bonus XP to everyone's heisting for the remainder of March, so that 2,000,000 XP I got yesterday for a pro Hox Breakout will grow even further. Seriously, if you're not farming Infamy levels you really should be if you have plans to do so, with the boosted XP I was nearly at 40 with just two DW Diamond Store jobs.

As a last reminder:

You have 4 days to buy the Completely OVERKILL DLC pack if you're going to, as after the Spring Break event starts up it goes back into the aether, ne'er to be seen again.
