High resolution TF2 sprays

How are these done? Do I need photoshop?
It seems when I use the program of choice due to cost or not wanting to download a hacked program, the sprays come out in poor quality once saved as a tga file.
What's the best free way to create a high resolution spray? Or should I go with photoshop?

wat i did and mine came out pretty good actually
i made up my spray in photoshop
saved it as a .tga file
then i downloaded a free program called VTFEdit
and converted the .tga file to a .vtf file
im pretty sure, give that a go if u got nothin else

As for why its blurry, you might have to higher you settings in the tf2 options

Thanks for the response guys. I looked at the stickys and didn't think that is what I needed. Guess I scroll down further to see your post fuse. Thanks, I'll try it out.

cant you just make something on photoshop then just go into option in-game and find it??

yes but it must be in vtf format... look at my tutorial for more

and i still do think my tut should have been stickied a long time ago ><
