This is never a fun post to make, but sometimes decisions like this will need to be made.

After much deliberation by TF2 leadership team and our community managers, we've decided that there needs to be a change.

Harvest has been empty most of the time for several weeks. It is one of our hardest servers to fill as well, and it will only stay full for a little bit before dying back down.

The decision has been made that we will be shutting down Harvest. This will give the FFTF less servers to focus on and it will help us bring up the server ranks on our other servers, many of which can stay full on their own and have a substantial player base.

As a sneak peek, there will be some upcoming changes to Foundry, but those will come after much more deliberation and some talks with the Foundry Force Five.

As I stated before, this was not a decision made overnight, and it is never an easy one. We know many of you enjoyed harvest, but we need to focus on the division as a whole. We'd like to see our other servers continue to rise in ranks.

The change to Harvest will be taking place in the next few days.

Thanks for reading!
TL;DR: Harvest is going bye bye. RIP Harvest.

It always was my least favorite map. I won't miss it all that much. I'm looking forward to what we're doing with foundry, with luck it should become my new favorite server!

Honestly, this is a welcomed change. To me, both Hightower and Harvest achieve the same end-goal: having a solo frag fest. The maps are, actually, quite similar in terms of where the fighting occurs and what people tend to roll with. This being said, I've never really seen the need for both and have always wanted a different style of map to replace one of them. My vote goes here for a true payload map since HT tends to have it's "accepted" way to play (don't push the cart, don't cap, no minis, etc. WHICH IS WHY I DO ALL OF THESE). I like to play on maps that have objectives to achieve. It encourages more Team Fortress as opposed to Solo Fortress. I've also noticed a steep decline in Harvest activity myself. Thank you to the powers for having such keen eyes and for making decisions to keep us going strong. /tiphat
