[poll] Should I keep this?? Or upgrade now...or upgrade later??

So right now....I sent out my 680i from Evga for this upgrade. I paid 90 bucks more for a motheboard I had only used for 4 months.

Should I sell it, and buy the 790i?

Im only using a e6750 which I can OC.

Or should I wait a year, see what else is out, and then sell this setup and my 8800gt SLI setup too....

I think with the 45nm processor support I should be good for a long long time.

That motherboard is just fine. Right now there is no need for a processor faster than the 45nm technology, as it will still be considered high end two years from now. Stick with what you got and save your money. Don't get caught up in the hardware race

there is not much of an upgrade when going to the 790i wait, and keep the one you have

You should sell it, and upgrade to X48, or P45/P35. Unless your going to actually use SLI.

stick with the 780i. i actually would have stuck with the 680i because odd number mobo design is just an incremental its the even number that really change everything up. but ya stick with the 780i and ull be golden

Yeap...i'm on it right now!

Uprgraded the stock intel cooler for the Thermalright 120 extreme...

Something amazing happend.

I swapped in the new MOBO, plugged in everything where the 680i was in terms of drives, and memory.

Windows fired right up, re-loaded chipset & Video drives, and its up and running.

No BSODs or anything.

Although it is a tiny bit slower.

Windows hasn't freaked out yet FTW.

I'll be switching to Vista soon after I get my 2nd hdd.

I have the E6750 as well... that chip is amazing. Got from 2.66 to 3.5 easy on air. No problems. ^_^

bub it says ddr2 800 right on the box.
it looks like a excellant mb. i dont know much about the nvidia chipsets but a lot of people think that other motherboard chipsets overclock better.
great choice in processor too. i got mine and had it up to 3.5 on air. i put it back to 3.3 cuz i didnt have to change the voltage for it to run that fast only fsb.

Look closer. Waldo is also somewhere on the box. By Waldo I mean 780i and not 790i.

Back to the thread, stick with the motherboard you have right now. The 780i is by no means outdated, and there's really no need to get your panties in a bunch over something that just came out. I can understand wanting the greatest and latest, but you're really sweating over nothing. =)

Oh, and the world of computers will always be getting better and better, and if you don't jump in and establish what you want at some point in time you're just going to be swept away by PR and hype.

I think that you should stay with what you have. Your system is perfectly fine for pretty much any game that is out.
