I realize many of you are from around the world. I apologize-this doesn't apply to you. I'll hopefully have more news regarding your situation later.
I started a quest to research my ancestry, I consider myself a lost fish in the sea who doesn't have a school. I know really just my two half brothers. I joined ancestry.com on that 14 day trial membership in search of it... and I also wanted to look into my Native American roots.
Well it's been a few days now... (a week really) and I've discovered I have NO Native American roots but my family however does have history dating back to both the Civil war (Confederate side) and American Revolution.
Apparently there is a registry and membership (kinda like a club) called Sons of the American Revolution (sar.org) and Daughters of the American Revolution (dar.org).
You have to prove your lineage (which I was lucky enough to do) for them to accept you, and you have to pay some membership fees but they document your lineage which is AWESOME.
For those of you who think you have some sort of ties to these great wars that were waged I would encourage you to look into it, debunk the theory that everyone in this country is Native American Indian and be able to share and pass something on to your children when there of the age to understand.
Just a random rant that I thought was cool.
Also if anyone lives near Mt. Sterling Kentucky please give me a shout... I located a cemetery out that way that has what seems to be solely my family members and I need to figure out who owns it... Add me on steam, Lethedethius. T.Y. and look into this it is pretty awesome!
