I do believe this is the second time someone has confronted me about this. The first time was when a certain admin paged me in admin chat in game about typing lol alot. Last I checked lol meant laugh out loud..... didnt know that was offensive. Regardless, I was typing lol because me and Toothpaste(ColgateTotal) were duking it out serveral times and kept dieng in weird mannors. Then that certain admin confronted me directly saying it is rude and disrespectful to make fun of players... That problem was nipped diretly in the but, because Toothpaste told him to lay off (that admin was getting really pissy) (note he was on the other team) and explained how it was funny and ok to laugh in a video game with me and him in funny situations. With online game play there is a problem. First you cannot really see the emotion behind the text. I can say shut up, and it can be percieved as SHUT UP or shud up man jk jk, without typing anything more. Now in both of these cases I typed lol. I apologize, from now on I will type lol @ Toothpaste for FILLINBLANK so people know who it is directed at and what for. As for the second scenario with Genocide, I think it was do to the fact that his normal occupation of his spawn as allies wasnt working to well and I typed lol 4 or 5 times because everytime after I killed him I fell out of the window and died by falling. I thought that might classify as funnny.... not sure. Anyways he is misinterpreting it big time and if the biggest problem he has in his life right now is me typing *lol* then he has a mighty good life. I really think he should take a step back, grab a coke, and just say wow I am playing DoD Source in a cool clan with cool people and its just a game. BTW I tend to say lol (laugh out loud) alot because I do not have time to type the whole reason person thing, because I usually join the losing team and hold it up by myself. Not trying to gloat but seriously I have my work cut out for me. I digress, when I first joined this clann it was much smaller and people knew each other very well. I know I have been absent for a while but in an effort to keep up I read posts and watched the clan grow. Now that I have time to play I feel discouraged that the mature clan I was in is now so mature we cannot say lol or playfull things toward each other anymore. I feel like this is taken right out of the novel 1984, or the movie Equillibrium. No emotions allowed. Anyways my rant is done no hard feelings or ill will towards anyone. I hope this can be resolved quickly and keep me updated. P.S. Until further notice I will stop saying L O L, since it has been deemed a derogatoryterm. I suggest you all do the same.

5 times within around 20 minutes or so. Maybe its because I do not take the game near as serious as others do. I play for fun and if something funny happens (regardless if it is to me or to someone else) I usually express my enjoyment, thinking they are here for the same thing. Maybe that is the problem, in any case I will still refrain from typing lol as it is upsetting people way too much.

for the record i always try to make it a friendly competition I never remember disrespecting anybody but if i do or say something that bothers someone please call me out on it in a respectable matter

things i usually say, please let me know if their out of line

Never said when laughing at me was 'lol'. You were doing HAHAHAHA or anything else just like that and majority of the time if i killed you and then i died from someone else, you still did it. So don't say you said 'lol' because you died after killing me and dying from a fall. That only happened once or twice.

Regardless of the times it happened, each time I laughed something funny occured. Is that alright with you? Dont wear your feelings on your shoulders man. Step back and think "Its just a game, it will be ok". Neways you should get on, I miss all the duels we had in the apartments!


P.S. Now that I actually think about it I only laughed at 3 of the situations you and I were in. Several of the O so destructive "lol" 's or "hahaha" 's were aimed at other playes fights while I was dead. Once again I apologize if this hurt you in any way.

I guess there's a fine line between a good ribbing and taunting somebody. When BigC was questioned by another admin because of typing "lol HAHA" to me, it was because the admin did not know what had happened. BigC chased me across the map after a win to shovel me. I laughed too.

As far as I've seen, Big C's never harassed or put down other players. But, if they do feel prejudiced against, the best course of action would be to say something.

This situation could have been resolved without all the drama if that had happened.

I agree, a PM to me in admin chat (like what Toothpaste and I had to deal with ealier) would have resolved this in mere moments without forum hassle and hurt feelings.

I'm going to respond wearing my clan advisor hat:

First of all, one way to irritate a player is to type LOL, or HAHA when everytime you kill him. That can be annoying. I don't know if anyone was doing that in this instance - I wasn't on the server.

Here's the definition of "taunt":

1. To reproach in a mocking, insulting, or contemptuous manner. See Synonyms at "ridicule"
2. To drive or incite (a person) by taunting.
3. tease: harass with persistent criticism or carping

I'm not taking any sides in this one, the above description of the word "taunt" says it all.

Everyone should play the game without resorting to taunting. Not all players take it playfully.... and it can be irksome after a while.

Anyway, this thread has served its purpose; case closed.
