Tech Help Cheap upgrade suggestions

Amd A10 or Intel I5 6600M Skylake

Hi all, after some advice. Have not paid much notice of PC improvements over past 4/5 years due to having other issues going on and not playing much games at all. Now I am looking to upgrade my rig, cost is an issue due to looking to emigrate in next few years and most of my money goes on my Mortgage to clear as much as possible. This is waht I currently have :-

Q6600 Intel 2.4gh
Asus P5Q deluxe
Asus HD 6850
8gb Patriot Ram
WIN 10

the rest is irrelevant. I am looking to upgrade to carry me over a few more years as when we emigrate I will have enough spare cash with house sell to buy what I like when the time comes. For now I do not know whether to go :-

AMD A10 or Intel !5 6600M ( also not bothering to O/C as cannot be bothered anymore).

Do I go DDR3 or 4?

and Asus/ Gigabyte or MSI board

Looking to spend between 300/400 GBP

Ideas and advice please people

Don't go the A10 (APU) That is a CPU for a very budget build. Your build is getting really long in the tooth with both the CPU and GPU. I think best would be to just got with a whole new build minus the storage and maybe hold on to the GPU.

Build I would go with minus the GPU. Keep the GPU you have and pocket the money and save up till you can get a better GPU down the line, possibly when the new GPU's from both Nvidia and AMD release near the end of this year.
Or sell the GPU you have now and cheap out a bit on the motherboard and pick up a new 750ti which will be an ok boost over your 6850 or try and find a used AMD 285 or something around that in your price range or a bit more.

Personally I would just tough it out with the GPU you have and keep my eye on the used market till I see something good, or save up for when the new GPU's come out.
 
Thanks for that, I had an idea in mind for an initial upgrade:-

I5 Skylake 6600M
Asus Asus Z170 Pro gaming Mobo
16 GB GSkill ddr4

which comes out at about ?340/350

But as I have not followed current trends I wanted someone to point in the same direction so I knew I was at least heading the right way

Yeah that is just the locked 6600. The 6M is the cache size :P

The parts you picked will be fine, you can cut back to 8gigs on the ram if you wana save a few bucks but besides that looks good. Just got to work on a new GPU next.
 
Thanks, appreciate the input, like I said had an idea but as so out of touch just wanted and independent person to sort of agree :-)
