Damn, the reason I joined eGO back in the days on Insurgency then DoD:S.. You'll be missed man, haven't heard from you in a while and hope things have gone up.

Story time!

I joined eGO back in January of 2010 with the Insurgency division. Hands down one of the most fun group of people I've ever known and I still have many memories of the fun I had with that group in Ventrilo, our silly event nights and general shenanigans.

USCG Hammer was our council member at the time and kept the ship sailing smoothly. Despite my age (13?) and immaturity, Hammer was a great guide to help me through anything. He tried his best to keep me out of trouble, along with our awesome leadership team. He did shock the life out of me when I was pulled into a room and told I was being removed from the community, but in reality he was giving me my first shot at being an O. It was a pretty proud moment.

Matt, been lucky to have been able to play games with you, and been on a leadership team with you more recently. From gifting me a copy of the Orange Box, to helping me out in a heartbeat as a leadership member, you've done a lot for me over the years. While it's going to be weird not seeing you high up in a channel and not have fancy tags on the forums, I know you're making the right choice for you.

I hope life sorts things out and becomes a little less hectic for you! We will have to play a few games sometime soon, when you get the chance. Enjoy the retirement from leadership though

Also, even if you're retiring, I still need someone to help give Adam shit. That can't stop.

Matt, you've always had my utmost respect and you always will.

From small problems to times when everyone was at each others throats, you always managed to find a solution or just talk things out in that sultry voice of yours. I feel bad for eGO because you're the only person I can ever see filling the Hammer role but I'm happy for you because it's about time you jumped in the back seat and actually enjoyed gaming (or your family and/or alcoholism).

Thanks for all your hard work over the years. And thank you even more for being my number one go-to level-headed, thoughtful, reasonable adult of the leadership team.

When I saw this post it really sadden me. Not going to write a long story but I still remember the first time I spoken with you, to the thick and thin, to everything. tbh it was fun and you sir are a great dude to talk to. You'll be missed. I'll miss Hammer. I have a huge amount of respect for him as an individual and as a leader, even if we've occasionally butted heads in the past. I wish him the best of luck, his legacy will not be forgotten easily.
