AFK kicker?

What was decided with the "AFK kicker-idea"?. It was up in 2 threads this summer here on this forum and both were closed with message:

"Megs A Tagger: We are currently discussing whether or not to test out an AFK plugin on our Ava server. Thanks!"

Currently in Europa afternoon time is there always many afks and no admins to spec them. There are only a few european admins left and none of them play at this afternoon time.

Its worst between 09:00 - 12:00 UTC

Sometime is there are many afk's on a team and the opponent team wins very easily repeatedly and there is no admins present. Here would the "Auto afk kicker" be fantastic.

It could start by putting afk's in specs. And if the server is full, it could kick specs.

If I recall correctly, there was some issue of AFK kicker plugins being very outdated and/or not compatible with our server and plugins. It's been a while, so who knows. Unfortunately I don't think the eGO DoD group is as active as it once was, so sadly this may never become a thing. Not much has changed or been updated on the server in a number of years, with the games age and decline.

Not to sound too pessimistic, just been stagnant for quite some time now.

Just to put my 10 cents worth into the AFK kicker. Yes it is frustrating for a team to have AFK's or spec"s with no admins in the game, but to kick these players would make the game look empty and so players are less likely to join a game if it looks empty. I would encourage admins who are online to jump into a game now and again to see if all is well.

London is correct. If you kick some AFK's, then you make the server smaller. It is a bad idea.

Most Kickers can be modified to only kick if the server is full. Thus allowing one active user to join aty a time AND making the server look full. They can also kick players to spectate first thus no AFKs on the team.


Someone ask Kendell to look into it....

yea stop bringing up the unfounded argument that the afk kicker will remove players and make the server empty. ive seen it so many times, its getting old.
it obviously would only be kicking when server is full.
32/32 players? and 4 are afk in spec.
it will kick 1 of those afk spec.
now it is 31/32 and 3 afk in spec.
1 player will eventually join or others will leave. kicking that 1 afk honestly didn't harm the server population.

is that enough sense for you?

Unfortunately, it seems to be reversed. Active players leave the server when half of their team is afk and the opposite team wins repeatedly. Thats kills the server.

But the problem are getting bigger. There are currently, no admins on the server for long periods in the best euro time.
I know DODs is a dying game and there are less active players and admins, therefore it would be a good idea to try to solve the problem.
