So, I'm sure there will be some against this, and that's why I'm posting this here so we can get everyone's view on the subject, but basically myself and i'm sure several others would prefer the server difficulty to be on hard instead of normal. There aren't many changes between them both, mobs won't spawn in lit areas etc etc. HOWEVER it will make mob spawners way more viable. Currently as is, it takes me hours of sitting at my zombie spawner farm to get levels etc, where as every past time I've played Minecraft, it would take way less time due to the speed at which zombies would actually spawn from the spawner. Currently as it is, 4 zombies will poof out of my spawner at a time, and then it will go around 30 seconds before anything else gets spawned from it, making the rates go extremely low. Higher difficulty would cause mobs to spawn more often.
One complaint I can see being brought up would be "it'll make more lag! more mobs more lag!" however, I disagree with that for the most part. There still is the 24 entity cram limit which would still slow my farm down from being massively overpowered, as well as slow down it from causing server performance issues.
The only other complaint I've heard at all is "it'll make the game too hard" which is just really unrealistic. The fun of minecraft is having a challenge and building and surviving through that challenge. Currently as things are, rarely do you encounter a mob unless you're out in the wilderness and no where near lit areas, and even then, most people just avoid night time on the surface because of the flying d00ds (cant think of their name right now lol). And even by the time you're wanting to maybe farm a mob for a drop etc, rarely will you get hit so much that you will die (some mobs will whoop your butt though without preparation, blazes etc).
Another downside of the low spawn rates, is trying to get things such as Wither Skele Skulls, or Tridents. With how slowly mobs spawn, it makes actually getting items for end game near impossible (by impossible I mean taking MANY hours unless you're the luckiest person alive). Without building an actual mob farm for these items, it'll take hours upon hours of running around to find the mobs in general, and EVEN WITH the farm made to lower the time, they still spawn so slowly that it makes the time spent building the farm completely a waste.
Yes this is a very long post, yes this is controversial, and YES, I want to hear everyone's thoughts on if its a good change, or to keep it on normal mode and why. Thank you all for coming to my TED Talk.
