signature upload

ok, this has probably been asked before, but how can i upload my signature?
i tried to just type the path in the tool, but it's not showing up yet.
it's an animated GIF, the resolution is 540 x 150, and the file size 82,21 KB...
my avatar won't show up too, it's a normal png, resolution 100 x 100, file size 3,50 KB.
should i just wait? or do i need to upload them some other way?

Where are they hosted? Is it possible said host does not allow hotlinking?

i first tried to upload it directly from my pc, that, of course, didn't work, then i stored them at imageshack, for the avatar it was fine immediately, but with the signature, i firtst had to get the image all alone on the page, via right click,
and that url worked.
