Well I'll say this much, its better than what I'm using right now, and this one cost almost 3x the price when I got it... lol

  • AMD 3000+ 2.1MHz
  • Stock Cooling
  • Motherboard - umm.. I don't know, whatever came in it..
  • Kingston 1 GB (2x512MB) SDRAM 333MHz - I upgraded, 1GB is all it supports
  • WD 1.5 TB Hard Drive (2x750GB) 7200rpm - I upgraded from 80GB LOL
  • LG 20x Dual Layer DVD/RW - I upgraded from 8x CD/RW
  • Sony 20x Dual Layer DVD/RW - I upgraded from 16x DVDROM
  • Ge-Force 7600GS AGP 8x - Upgraded from onboard to ATI x1050 then to this
  • Standard HP Case
  • 350W Power Supply

1300$ roughly when I bought, plus all the upgrades, cost me more then its worth
 
well, if im not mistaken, with that memory you would not be able to utilize dual channeling capabilities...but otherwise it looks pretty good.
 
You MAY want to get a 9000GT instead. Very good cards for the price.
 
looks pretty good =] i second the 9600 over the 8600

I can't stress to you how much a bad idea is to buy new products, give it time before you give yourself the headacke.
Your computer is good enough to run the games you play smoothly.

In this case, how would it be a bad buy? The 9600gt has already been shown to be much faster than the 8600. @op I would've lost the extra gig of ram and put a better vid card in because with the 3gb you lose dual channel and basically cut your mem. bandwidth in half.

Agreed, first off I have never heard of that brand of ram, second off with the asymmetrical size it will not utilize dual channel capabilities like Munch stated. If two 2gb sticks is out of the price range, I personally would probably get one 2gb stick and just wait and save up and throw another 2gb stick in later down the road.

I'd say that looks like a pretty decent rig though and definitely beats what I've got!
