CS:S help!

Alright, lets get my computer specs out of the way.
windows vista ultimate 64-bit
2gb g.skill 4-4-4-12 22
amd athlon 6000+ oc'ed to 3.36GHz Orthos 18hrs stable
850watt rosewill psu
nvidia 8800GTX
asus 590sli mobo
When I'm going from desktop to source or source to desktop it takes a while to get there. I know it can't be my computer because all the other games I play(crysis, cod4, oblivion, etc.) switch there right away. Is there some setting I should know about source? I've only had the game for 2 weeks.

sorry i dont realy have a answer to your problem but very nice rig. My answer would be to uninstall games u never play but i dont know if that is right
 
I know my Computer takes about 20 seconds to open back up, do you know exactly how long? maybe time it, and it could be Ram issue, since that is what would help it load back up faster.
 
He has great timings....not the best board, but eh. Dunno what could be causing this...what HDD do you got?

When source minimizes it uses less ram (watch your ram usage on second monitor) so its loading it all in ram shouldnt take taht long tho try new sticks of ram. Also try disabling second monitor cause it takes a while to switch one to full screen using all the graphics power it can..otherwise try setting desktop resolution to in game resolution and set second monitor to the same as the first. That way it doesnt waste time trying to sync monitors and resolutions which sometimes takes a while. Not sure if thisll work but its better than a simple "i dont know" let mek now if it helps or not if it does a little ill find other random things to try
 
My specs are 2.4ghz Q6600, 2gb PC1066 DDR2, 2x 512mb 8800GT SLI, WD Raptor 74gb and i can tab out of cod4 in less than a second and then go right back in.. but in tf2 it can take up to 10 seconds which is agonizingly long when your used to everything going fast. I think you are having the same issue as me and im on XP
