Soo I accidently edited the whole post out. Soo I'm gonna sumerise it.

Make the number of times before a map can be nominated longer on specific maps. For example, quake would get 9, and shapeshifter would get 4/5, quake is an overplayed map so it should get a bigger number and shapeshifter is underplayed so it gets a lower number. I think this would be great because people could experience more maps which are also fun. Currently we usually play like 9 maps over and over again, we rarely get to play underplayed maps, and if we do it's during eu times where theres only 16-20 people on. Some maps are better with more players.

Similar suggestions, I feel this comes up a lot...

Side note: I have no opinion on the topic as someone who doesn't play CS, but noting there are other suggestions outstanding or completed on the same topic.

Thing is each one's different while having the same idea.

The 1st wants to remove the nomination system.
The 2nd wants to remove 2-3 maps and add 2-3 maps every month.
The 3rd wants to remove maps temporarily.

In my post I want to change the amount of maps that have to be played before a certain map can be nominated again.

Just for arguments sake here - While understandable that you want to play more infrequently used maps and explore more, would this end up annoying server regulars? If the maps are "overplayed", aren't they popular for a reason?

I think they're overplayed due to them being easy to rebel on or have some decent map games. Also we should explore some of the unplayed maps that are on the server map pool. They might be fun they might be not, it really doesn't hurt to try new things.

The maps that are overplayed are overplayed because people would choose to vote for that then to a random map they've never played, what I'm suggesting is not to remove the map completely but make it played a bit less so other maps get played and might become popular as well. I remember a time when quake would get played every couple of months or so, nobody knew the map or anything. Then once it got played a little bit more it became one of the main maps played. I don't think this would end up annoying server regulars, I have like 93 days on the server and I think that certain maps should be played more, I personally don't think the server should be running the same maps over and over each day, it gets boring. Some maps are really bad and are underplayed for a reason, while others are actually really good and just haven't been played enough, an example is like I said quake, never gotten played and then it just got popular out of no where, it's a good rebel map if you can continuously make the hard jump and get lucky to get teleported to armoury. Other maps have a bunch of good games, one of does being peanut which doesn't exactly get played much but it's not an underplayed one. The map I want to try get it played quite a bit is bigmt, its made by someone called gamed0m who made quite a bit of secrets but also a bunch of games which he didn't copy and paste at all, I'm preety sure thorgot and red dragon knight helped make it, I really think it could become played quite a bit, not overplayed but just played more often then it is. Right now it's played like once a day during eu times with like 13 ppl on, it's a massive map and should be played with like 40+.

I think the better idea would be to implement this after clearing out some maps that just aren’t good. I think most people just pick the popular maps because they know they’re good maps, while some just aren’t. I have never seen half of the maps on the server played and I’m sure that a good portion of those are because they’re either broken or not fun.
All in all, I’m half and half on this. Good idea but there are so many maps that are just not fun to play on for either team that we should get rid of before we make it so that new maps need to be rotated in before the same 7-10 maps are played again.

I do agree some maps are quite bad but if we're removing does maps then we need to add new ones. I'm preety sure I've played like every map on the server and some maps are quite good while others kind of suck.

I think we should just try out does underplayed maps more. I want certain maps to have a limit before they get played, some can stay but some really should be changed to a higher number or to a lower number. After we played the chain of the overplayed maps, we could play 1-2 underplayed maps and then after that play the overplayed/more played maps. So basically every day we would get to play 1-2 underplayed maps and we would still be able to play the overplayed ones but just not as much.

+1 I agree that the cooldown for a map should be longer before its played again. While everyone has their own reason as to why they like overplayed maps it usually falls down to quality of the map and familiarness with map.

As a long time regular there are some great underplayed maps out there that are barely seeing any play time since the cooldown for popular maps is usually up. I think we should look into upping the cooldown even if its not by much.

While from a gameplay standpoint, you are 100% correct. The quality of the most popular maps aren't great. However-- if you've noticed, server population grows on the most popular maps, and noticeably decreases when we play an underplayed map. I agree that we should give new maps a chance, but it needs to be done by a non systematic means. Somebody (like Jacko) needs to encourage the playing of new maps. Jacko is the only one I see who actively does this, but somebody else who has the community's respect should stand up. If you promote maps enough, eventually people grow used to them and they become played.

Promoting and influencing voting can only do so much. With a server of 50+ if people see clouds/dojo/obama as a voting option they usually stick to those because they are most familiar to them. Sometimes we are able to get an underplayed map or two but that method is really unreliable and honestly exhausting.
