GTA V RP - Positional pings for the public

This concept is derived out of a recent "downed vehicle" RP I witnessed Massex and Rekty doing. Basically the idea is that you can use the ping process that is normally used when sending a text message to police or mechanics but instead you are sending a text message (Which can be anonymous) to ping everyone in server that an event is happening whether it be "Vehicle has crashed here loaded with drugs and money" or "Money truck is leaving this location headed to X location". It would allow people who don't know the map by hear(Most people ) to still get involved in these events as they are happening. It would allow the newer players to get involved in some different RP from the usual stuff.

This would also benefit official events run by people like Jordy where they can simply ping the location to the public when the event is about to begin.

I'm saying add a button in the cell phone that anyone can use to send out a notification positional ping to all online players like when you text the police and the online police get a positional ping.

Maybe you can limit this to =(e)= players and above only have access to this ping to prevent spam. But the example I used above, it would have been super helpful to get more players involved in Massex's RP scenario if he could have made his downed drug/money truck announcement via a location ping with a short message to all players on the server so we can quickly locate it and get to the scene.

I assume by EC team you mean the event team? I don't think something like this should be limited to that. I think a tool like this open to all registered members of the community would open up the opportunity for everyone to get more people involved in their RP scenario.

Yes, Event Coordinator is what EC stands for, and I have a feeling it would probably be E and above if they implement it.

Hello,

That just sounds like a disaster waiting to happen with people spamming it every second. Also; as far as events and stuff from the EC team, if people are having a hard time getting somewhere because they don't know where the meetup is, they can always use /ooc or /report and they can be brought to the location.

And for player-ran events, the best thing to do for this is give updates every so often on twitter or something like that.

I can't see how it would be any more of a disaster than the already existing ping systems for police and mechanics. Do those get abused every second?

Maybe add a timer that limits a message being sent on it to every 10 minutes?
