So i have seeing sometimes that TF2 has that when some new recruits join the TF2 team we could maybe do it in all the divisions :D so even if they do that introduction they can get tagged in those threads too so they will have a bigger welcome thread, i think its really cool of TF2 to make those thread and welcome the latest and newest recruits maybe we should do it on all the divisions?

Who wanna see it too come with opinions on why or why not?

I agree with beast welcome post are for them to meet some more veteran of the server and maybe have someone more comfortable to talk to

Why do you think its pointless i believe its a great idea to make the recruits feel like they are more welcomed into their divisions

Maybe it's just me lol Any community I've ever been a part of that ever did welcome threads, they just seem like hollow gestures. It's that social media effect. Facebook says it's john's birthday today, you should say happy birthday. "Happy birthday john" gets added to the 30 other machine suggested birthday wishes lol

Yes i know what you mean, im a person when people have birthday i dont say happy birthday to them cause i dont believe why cuz its only on facebook when i can say it in IRL, but yeah i know where you are coming from and that is your opinion and i love how you think about it

Can I agree with both of you :-) ? New members usually introduce themselves or at least they should , so why not just welcome them there ? If they do not introduce themselves in the Forums maybe they do not believe in doing so and don't want to waste everybody's time and clutter the Forums , after all they play and chat with other members in game . I play a lot of BFBC2 and meet a lot of players there and chat in game , eventually they usually post in our Forums somewhere or come into TS .

I’d like to see more people reaching out to new members, adding them on Steam, helping them know how we do things, get them to events, on TS, etc.

The welcome thread in itself is fine even though I’m not sure many necessarily see it. But going further than that is what would really do us well.

You can always aggree on both parts and say your opinion and i understand where you are coming

-1.

While I do love users getting involved into the community forums, I think having every division introduce them is kinda unneeded. When they join eGO, they are supposed to get a DM with all of the juicy information about all of that. Here's my DM:

Code:
[B]An Introduction[/B]
We want to know more about you, kuantum. Posting an introduction will help everyone learn more about you and what you like to do in your free time. You do not have to be too detailed, just come and say hello! Join your fellow members and introduce yourself [URL="https://www.edge-gamers.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?1306-Introductions"]here.[/URL]

So I guess it is really a take it or leave it kind of a thing. I know in the CS and GTA division, there would be a LOT of posts introducing people.

While a nice feature, it shouldn't be mandatory.

Well true its not mandatory im just thinking maybe like once a month we like make a post about it, if it makes more sense in that way but it is also up to the division leaders if they want to do so

I think it's a good idea for Leadership to put them in the spotlight, it helps them get themselves out there.
Perhaps a bulk post every other week introducing all of the recruits and linking their introduction threads.

Currently right now it isn't mandatory for anyone to do it. DrkChocolate and the TF2 team decided to do it basically on a week or biweekly basis depending on how many people join. I do personally, like the idea, but I can say I do understand how some people don't like it.
