Edge-Gamers URL shortener

I think it would be nice to have the ability to auto-shorten(would be a secondary link) eGO content such as forum posts, official content, or other resources.

Basically, instead of being

https://www.edge-gamers.com/forums/newthread.php?do=newthread&f=1344

It might look like:

https://ego.io/AbCdEfG

Or something.

This would allow easier sharing of forum posts on things like game servers, discord, TS, or etc. In general, they are more pleasant to look at.

Things like offcial eGO pages or services could be statically set to things like:

https://ego.io/discord

Overall this system sounds like a no-brainer.

Additionally, you don't have to have the URL generation be forward-facing, Meaning that users can't readily maliciously misuse the tool. (Meaning none staff cannot generate the links, things like forum posts would autogen the links, basically we trust staff with this not all users)

In that case, we should expand it further. There is a lot of forum Content that could benefit from this and other things that in the future that we might need.

We can readily find URL shortener scripts which we could lock down and modify to our needs.

Honestly I think very few know short URLs for the stuff you mentioned exists

Instead of copying full links, he wants posts ran under the edgm.rs link. So instead of copying this:

Definitely possible from the link to make a format for it like edgm.rs/forums/344507#post3141596, but not sure if there's a way to implement a "share" button or something on every post that would automatically make the link for you, meaning you'd have to reformat it every time you wanted to share a link.

Personally I find it a lot faster to just take out the thread title and all the unnecessary link attributes. For example, a post on this thread is https://www.edge-gamers.com/forums/showthread.php?344507#post3141596 instead of https://www.edge-gamers.com/forums/...RL-shortener&p=3141596&viewfull=1#post3141596.
