Computer problems

Hello there all mateys! Recently my computer has put up a fight and started to give me "lag spikes" everywhere i am. It gives me the lag spieks every 5min and their duration is about 10sec.
One thing that i have realized is that when the lag spieks comes up my CPU goes to 0% and when it ends it goes back to normal what is normally about 50%

My computer Processor is AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4600+, MMx,3Dnow (2 CPUs)
my videocart is Nvidia Gforce 7800.
and i have also 2048MB RAM.
If you can help me with this, please do so. ^.^

Overheating? sounds like the processor is shutting down. check your heatsync fan make sure its working correctly

<--bad with computers so.. how can i check my fan? I think i agree someway with Mostly since my computer keeps a lot of voice..

Also sounds like you have'nt defraged your computer in along time.

Well haven't done that but... With my old computer i did it and it broke down so bad memories about it

your gonna have to open your case and look to see if there is dust or something keeping it from moving. check all the fans inside for dust or debris. Defragging your machine is not a bad idea either.

it could be u don't have enoff mb. with me that was happening
and i had to go in and delete alot of programs and files to make it work better. You may have the same problem as me.
