post beep codes

I don't know how many of you know much of if it all about this stuff but.. I'm building a computer for my mom's friend. I put it all together and it doesn't work. NO display, just a post beep code on startup. It's one 3-4 second long beep repeated. I've looking online and it doesnt look like that's a standard beep code. Heres the setup

eVGA 650i ultra mobo
Intel core 2 duo 2.2 ghz
2x 1 gb Patriot ddr2 800
eVGA 8600gt 256

I think its the ram but the problem is I have no way of testing whether its the ram or the mobo. The mobo seems cheap and I think it might be that.
 
I know for a fact that esd isnt the problem. I'm real good about all that. I'm more concerned by the fact that the RAM clips on the mobo don't always clip the ram in. so should I just try ordering a new mobo?
 
I would say more the RAM then the mobo... I had the same beep code on a system I built... it was old memory I got out of the closet to test stuff with.. switched out the memory and it worked fine...


buuuuut that's just the experience I had with beep codes... if you have access to the beep codes.. you can look them up on the net... that's what I did.
 
the funny thing is the beep code I'm getting isn't really mentioned in any of the standard beep codes. amost will have one long folled by a series of shorts or something. I plan to test the ram at my buddy's house tonight.
