New Nvidia GPU's reviewed properly

Yeah I really don't see a need to upgrade my 8800GTS G92 for at least a year.
 
I'll probably get a GX2 sometime if Nvidia doesn't release another useless card this year.
 
unless nvidia comes out with a reliable card in the next 8 months i'll probably stick with my 8800gts 92 for some time. Then maybe swap up a step or two. Sounds like the 8800 and 9800s are amazing for vid cards but i think nvidia is trying to milk the market for more than they are worth.


ninja edit: Nossr get a second 88gts92 and go sli. there upgrade problem solved :D
 
yeah nvidias 280's and the 9800 GX2's are pretty much the same card, expcept for price

you are paying for the name with the 280
 
My two 8800GTS G80's seem to work fine for me in SLI.

Still kicking myself for not getting the 640mb version instead of the 320, though. :(

You do know there is a big difference between these cards... don't you?

The G80 processor that powers GeForce 8800 GTX graphics cards is top notch but the GT200 graphics processor powering the GeForce GTX 200-series graphics cards, despite being built on a smaller chip fabrication process, the GT200 is even larger than the G80 and it packs nearly twice the processing power.

Yes, the GeForce 9800 GX2 is faster than the GTX 280, but the GTX 280 is a single-GPU card unlike the dual-chip 9800 GX2.

I'd rather have a big single-GPU card like the GTX 280 than a dual-chip GeForce 9800 GX2 any day. Multi-GPU setups are fragile, and in some games, their performance simply doesn't scale very well. Also, Nvidia's support for multiple monitors in SLI and GX2 solutions is pretty dreadful.
