Need a Bit of Info/Help

Ok so I spent my nice hard earn money on a weekend to Vegas..... And man was it a blast... (friends 21st birthday ) and befor I went on this trip I was debating on spending the money on a new laptop or one long party in Vegas........ So to Vegas I went and what would you know.... I won 800 on the one and only machine I played...... Stoked so I went and bought a new laptop (Yes I love having my cake and eating it too )


Ok to the point at hand..... Is there any way to transfer my Steam account to this computer( with all the games)???

Ps. I know I could just put the files on a external hard drive but dont know anyone with one and dont feel like forking the money over for one just to move a few games over to a new laptop

actually - the joy of steam is that if you purchased your games from steam, you can just log onto steam on your new laptop and download the game files on that machine. it might take a little while depending on how many games you have through them, but that's how it works

if you added games to steam from another source (games you purchased outside of steam), then you'll need to re-install those games on your laptop.

^He's absolutely correct. I can provide you with a step by step walkthrough if you'd like.

First: Go to http://steampowered.com/v/index.php On the left side of the site you should see a button that says "Get Steam Now Free Download"
Click that and download it.

Second: Log in with your existing Steam user.

Third: Click on the My Games tab. You will see an Installed list and a Uninstalled game list. Click on one of the games you want to play on the uninstalled games list. (All of them will be on there). Then in the bottom right corner click install and it will start installing.

Fourth: After insttallation play and have fun!

well... first of all, what i think he is getting at is the point where he doesnt want to download all the new games. here is what i can think of... it may be a long task, but it may work. Externals are pretty cheap these days, for an external lol

Step 1: Acquire a Flash Drive or External (if not skip to step 9, and having an external be better)

Step 2: Copy the game folder (C:\Program Files\Steam\)

Step 3: Paste Steam on Flashdrive

Step 4: Install Steam on new Laptop

Step 5: Log into Steam on new Laptop

Step 6: Go to destination (C:\Program Files\Steam\)

Step 7: Copy/Paste Folder off your flashdrive or external

Step 8: Install Steam over your steam file

Step 9: Download Files on new Laptop

There you go

I do know how to transfer from 1 drive to the other, but im not quite sure this will work out either, but its worth a shot
