I have held off on this game, because of previous experiences with EA, and am very sad to hear all of the bad news surrounding this game. I would like to have some of you tell me if it is worth it or not. Active players on Steam have plummeted and Bf5 has more players playing. Will updates fix this game or is just too far off from the BF experience to be saved?

I have fun with it. Is it a bit different? Yes. but it is still fun. Do I wish that it had parts of older battlefield games? Yes! (voip,scoreboard,Server browser,RSP) Thy might be comming back or at least some of them.
I remember when the commuinty were all saying the BF4 had more players than BF5. It was probably true. but most things on reddit is just a toxic minority stirring the pot. Even steam charts need to be taken with a grain of salt as it does not take into consideration other platforms.

yea thy started trying to kill BF with BF1 and are/have slowly succeeding. But I still can't say that it is not a fun game.

sure BF2042 has it's negatives but the positives override the negatives by far. I would definitely recommend it with a full squad with friends tho.
Plus, name a BF that wasnt hot shit on release. They havent published something good on release since BC2
