My 2 cents on the update process

Hey guys
I just wanted to get something off my chest.
I am really sick of people being so negative about the updates. I know it sucks when you're playing and your team has six pyros, or 7 medics, but i dunno it just never really bothered me too much. To me that's just 6 more pyros sasha can take out as they foolishly run towards me. And honestly how long does it last? Two or three days? Ok so two or three days of matches that aren't as fun as usual, but after, we're left with a deeper, improved game. I'm also getting sick of people complaining about class imbalances and stuff (this has bothered me since I started playin TF2 back in November). I the unlockables are ALTERNATIVES not IMPROVEMENTS. The medic pack has been out forever now, and I don't think he is one iota better or worse off than before it. A little deeper, and more fun to play maybe. But not better. Same goes for pyro. I killed just as many pyros this week as I did the week before the update. Anyway I just wish people would stop complaining. Anyway you slice it, it's new stuff for our favorite game.

Thanks for listening

I see your point, but my dislike is directed at the fact that they don't release 2 or even 3 at a time. I would much rather wait the extra month to have 2 classes released at the same time, so that during the days after the update there is a slight variance. But I do agree that all of the negativity has overshadowed the great elements of game play that updates have added.

*shrug* I think the reason people are upset is because Valve hasn't done their favorite class yet. I'll be the first to admit that I'm upset the Spy and Scout don't have packs out yet. Also it's not 2-3 days for the fervor to die down it's like 2 weeks. As a mainly Spy and Scout player I think we're finally down to pre-Pyro update levels and this is what...week 3 or something?

Sorry for ranting,

I've noticed that a lot too.. MANY people complain about the updates. I mean cmon it usually lasts for a week or two. updates for other classes would be out eventually and then YOU won't be complaining. Just learn to have fun with what you've got. But if you REALLY don't like the updates, instead of complaining, lay off the gaming for a couple of days.

I don't think my gameplay has significantly improved sinc I received the backburner, although it has since I got the axetinguisher =p

IDK about you guys, but I've racked up more points than ever before as pyro with the new update. Not only am I able to run right over people, but if they try to run, I'm fast enough that they can't escape. Flare gun is most welcome, especially against medics, soldiers, heavies, and demos. The air weapon is often more effective than demos at breaking up or stopping ubers - no reload. Soldier is out, pyro is in :p

Personally I think that the medic is stronger with the Ubersaw, but whatever. What do the updates give me? Achievements. Some random and sometimes funny goals. They can add an extra challenge to the game if you want the achievs regardless of the unlockables. Games where it is 8 pyros vs. 8 pyros? Hey, while spy may be your fave class, try something different. Like Heavy. Use this time to mix it up and play a little different than normal.

MY 2 cents on the updates is that the medic was quite painfull to push through. But that was thier first try at this. With the pryo update i think they did a great job at putting in the all new with the least amount of gameplay disruption as possible. The problem i had with the original updates was that they made some the achievements impossible to get while in normal play scenarios. They change that with the pryo update and it has clearly showed to improved this process of upgrading all the class and the game. So as a recap yes the medic pack irrated me. But valve quickly learned from them and i think they have this whole update process down pretty well at this point. I mean the pyro week with 10 million pryos really only lasted about 4 days maybe before everything returned back to normal.

P.S. for everyone wanting them to release take this quote into consideration. " Rome was not built in one".

Yeah, I think we can all agree that the pyro update went alot better than the medic one. Hopefully that trend will continue with the Heavy update. It's nice to see some more positivity regarding the whole thing though. Thanks for the breath of fresh air guys.

I really enjoy these updates, whether or not there's a surge in usage in the class. It gives me incentive to play the class, and goals to strive for. Moreover, it makes me want to play TF2 more. The unlockables are great if I'm looking for a change, but I like how Valve made sure they were not better than the weapon they replaced, just a different style.
