EGO TF2 servers have lots of regulars who have played lots of TF2, Who are very talented. Many are not official edgegamers, However these players are the reason that I regular EGO servers.

I think it would be amazing if we created a competitive team. Who would be interested?

A looooooooong time ago, we had a TF2 comp team that I was on. I mained soldier.

Now a days, I'm an old man who retired to 2Fort, and the occasional event when I can attend them. I'm sure there's other people interested. If you haven't yet, you should hop in our Discord.

The next event is tonight, called Blackmesa Sunday. We host it every Sunday starting at 2100 9:00 PM.

we did try again at a competitive team but many players just enjoy playing casually, and there is quite the variety in skill amongst the common playerbase. im sure if we made a competitive team it would be fun but not for everyone

What if and this is just an idea. EGO hosted their own competitive tournament where we had teams of edgegamers compete in a bracket there's not a whole lot of us so it would have to be a 4 team bracket of 4v4 matches. It could be a tournament Saturday event!
We could have the losers of the first round compete for third and fourth place.
Not sure if there would be an award system it may be just bragging rights or maybe the winning team gets to decide on an event or something like that.

Have you approached leadership about your idea? We have Mithral Maw Mithral Maw , Jeff7890110 Jeff7890110 , DrkChocolate DrkChocolate to name a few.

We also have some great advisors like Elbow Removal Service Elbow Removal Service as well.

Someone recently mentioned this in an event and I have been asking a few players if they might be interested before poking the TF2 LE. But this is a good idea. We have hosted tournaments in the past.

Players who are interested should start making and naming their teams and we can post them here in this forum. Just get the ball rolling and to get people excited for this possibility

I am going to try my best to plant seeds behind the scenes to get people thinking about it. It would be awesome if people suggested ways to help people create teams in an organized way. In my opinion there should be an official Discord for the TF2 server for example. I will be down to make the server and even give the server to an admin because I just want this to be a possibility.

hmmm, could be interesting, but generally speaking, 4s isn't that big of a format compared to 6s and HL.

We've toyed with the idea a bunch, but it really boils down to if there is the long-term interest, and the organization behind it. Frankly, I could see us doing 6's. HL is awesome but it would take a lot more moving parts to get it going.

We've had a discord before for running comp teams, we could brush that up and make a return on it if need be.
As for an official TF2 server; that's an interesting subject in of itself. I've always been of the opinion we should (I even built a mock one just for giggles because I was bored), but the thing is it'd be something that goes beyond just Drk's approval of, and getting that approval would have to have a solid proposal behind it. With the right reasons, that's not a problem, but it would take a convincing proposal to make it happen.

OMG YAASSS! I took part in Season 2. We played 4v4 on Control Point maps. I forget who all was on the team with me. We ran engineer, spy, pyro, and kritz med (sometimes it's ok to kritz a pyro). Did rather well from what I remember. I think the other teams were so thrown off by our class mix they couldn't figure out a counter. Our strategy was use the pyro/med to escort the engy, park a sentry on their respawn, then spy capture everything. LOL I remember it being tons of fun and I got an award :D

If people really wanna do a comp team, it goes without saying but it's a big commitment. I would know after 5 seasons of Highlander, and 2 seasons of 6s. It's not something that you can just pick up and learn in a week. That being said, I would be down to help coach/mentor a team if need be.

I think an event would be fun IF done right. that would give us a decent gauge of interest. We used to have a couple of tournaments that we went all out for. A single event would be easier to make happen than the commitment of a full season

Ah yes, I remember doing HL with eGO. Time commitments had me leave midway through the season, and that's the big thing we have to look out for. Real life can throw things in the way.

I say walk before you run, so maybe start recruiting teammates and utilizing our more competitive-oriented TF2 events as a proof of concept and to hone everything in.

Those were the days. Time commitments have always been the biggest issue for any competitive team attempted with eGO in TF2- 6's and HL. Being a competitive advisor was tough due to this, as players were constantly coming in and out and it was hard to get a consistent team together and get that team to gel as well. Glad to see another push for this happening- some of my fondest days here were competing in highlander and running a 6's team as well.
